How Amblee makes money
Members pay for it. Today, nobody else does.
Where the money comes from, who else can be paid out of it, and the rules we hold ourselves to if that ever changes.
Today
Subscriptions, and only subscriptions
In the United States, a subscription costs $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year. Every account starts with a 7-day free trial that asks for no payment method and does not turn into a paid subscription.
There are two places to buy one, and both are live. In the iPhone app, Apple takes the payment and is the seller. The free trial the app offers when you buy is a different thing: it is Apple’s introductory offer, and when it ends the subscription renews at the price shown until you cancel with Apple. On amblee.co, we sell it and Stripe processes the card.
Buy in the iPhone app and Apple bills you, and you cancel in your App Store subscriptions. Buy on amblee.co and we bill you through Stripe, and you cancel in the Stripe billing portal, which you open from Billing in your Amblee account.
Credit unions. There is also a program a credit union can sponsor for its members. No credit union uses Amblee today, so it brings in nothing. For credit unions has the detail.
